My mate says that some shockers are separate from the spring. Is this the case with the Maestro?

If you're talking about suspension struts then your mates right. The suspension struts come without the spring, and once you have the old strut off the car you have to use a spring tensioning tool to get the spring off, and then onto your new strut. Can be very tricky and time consuming to get the spring back into place on the new strut, and you need some heavy duty, well built spring tensioners otherwise they just wont be string enough.

Hope this helps.
