losing power now and again

hi everybody could anybody give me some advice i have 2000cc perkins diesel and every now and then i seam to lose power any ideas thanks in advance

Is it a complete loss of p[ower like someone turned the ignition off? If so then check the security of the wire to the stop solenoid on the fuel pump. If it is a montego then check the fusebox hasn't started to die.
