Motobuild arent interested in montys and maestros any more, plus the advice they usually give is wrong, what do you want to know???

Are you after advice so you can do the work yourself, if so what do you want to do.
Alternativly there are people here or on some of the other forums who will do small jobs for the cost of a few drinks or there are a couple of garages that will do work at workshop rates.

well i want some bits done on my car its running standard boost but i dont know if 2 use a bleed valve 2 run about a bar ive spoken 2 a friend and he said about the down pipe is very restrictive in power wise so i want 2 know about that the car has had engine work done

Dont use a bleed valve shorten the actuator rod, only if you have modified your needle a standard needle is only good for about 12 psi. I would check your fuel pressure as well as this can drop with age.
14psi with a 2.5 inch exhaust from the front pipe, coupled with some form of induction kit and a large intercooler will keep you going for a while, its only worth getting a bigger front pipe if you change the exhaust elbow as this is where the restriction is, changing the front pipe on its own has been shown to do nothing.

I've tuned a number of 8 valvers now and know pretty much what to expect when certain 'mods' are made.
First of all, do NOT get a bleed valve unless you understand fully how it works and what effect it would have to the fuelling if fitted. The inexperienced will have problems with leaning out and potentially a blown engine because the bleed not only fools the actuator, it also reduces the fuel pressure. It's so much easier to shorten the actuator rod as Ian has already mentioned, performance will be stronger this way as well.
You already have the exhaust and the intercooler. The next step is to confirm what boost you are running, so before you do anything else, fit a gauge if there isnt one already.
For boost from STD 10 to 12psi approx, the fuelling will be ok with the standard carb needle. Don't 'think' its ok if you go above this boost, the only way for the beginner to tell if their car is running lean is to get it on the rollers, so budget for this once you have upped the boost.
Some car's have a rep for blowing head gaskets, a fresh gasket with nice and flat block and head surfaces will be able to cope with 15psi all day long, IF the cooling system is up it. Makes sure the rad and all its related components are up to the job of cooling the engine.
Bigger exhaust downpipe is really needed on these because it's so restrictive BUT as has been mentioned the turbo exhaust elbow is also a restriction as this cannot be changed easily. I wouldnt go much bigger than 2.25 inch on the downpipe or you will lose low end power and makes it less responsive on spool up.
The std induction system is OK, but it needs a cool air feed and a better filter element, change this and it will be good for 250bhp+.
A cone filter will sound nice but lose power because it picks up hot air from the engine bay, do not be tempted to fit one as its a backwards step!
Power @14-15psi is good for at least 200bhp and 215lb ft and if finely tuned to perfection can get up to 220bhp and 225-230lb ft depending on engine condition aswell.
My old engine spec was very similar to what i've said above, i ran 13-14psi at Santa Pod last year and ran mid 14's all day long with a best terminal of 97-98mph. It's plenty fast enough like that, and it's cheap to get it to that stage too.
