Hi guys not sure where to start with this one I was travelling along at 60mph along the duel carriage way when the engine just cut out ie I lost power then stalled. AA man came out and couldn't get the engine going, it was turning over buy no ignition. AA man towed me back home. Pulled up on driveway and unloaded the car, then AA man asked to turn the car over and it started without any problems. On the dual carriage way the AA man unscrewed the pump to check fuel was getting through and it was.....

Any ideas?

Check the wireing to it first as sometimes these break.

I experienced a similar thing with my non turbo 500 van and in my case it was a relay under the dash. I heard a click and then the engine died and as with yours it would turn over but not fire. The AA man spent quite some time checking the engine bay even though I told him a few times I had heard this loud click. Eventually finding nothing amiss there he removed each relay, checked each one against a 9V battery and found one,(I think No 6 but dont quote me), had failed. He had a spare which got me to the nearest Motorworld where I purchased a new one, since then no problem. Maybe you have an intermittent fault in the relay, might be worth buying a spare, they are only about £3, and carrying it with you incase it goes again.
I did have my starter solenoid play up a few months back, it was switching off as normal but due to some roughness on the plunger it wasnt opening up again, but that gave symptoms of fuel starvation, lurching, no power immediately after starting the engine

Problem solved, I replaced the fuel pump and fully serviced the car today and have taken the car out on a run to bluewater and it didn't miss a beat.....
