Hi all. Having just safely passed its MOT and just a hundred miles short of its 100,000 mile birthday, I was thinking about a new carpet set for H54 YGW and wondered if anybody had had any experience with their Maestro carpet sets. Just wondering because it was from this forum that somebody mentioned the website address for them

Prestige Auto Trim (http://www.prestigeautotrim.com/uk/austin_carpets.htm)

They do a red shade for our cars and having always liked the look of the earlier EFI's with red carpets i'm quite toying with the idea of some to go in mine particularly with the black exterior colour and red belts.

Cheers

I have got a set of sound-deadening mats to go under the carpets. I haven't had time to take out the interior and fit them yet, but they look very good and seem pretty comprehensive. Delivery was pretty slow (3 weeks ish) but they did say it would be, so can't fault them on that.

I got a new carpet set and sound deadening matting from them for the camper, and it's now as quiet as a diesel can get with no door trims on and lovely and plush underfoot :)

Thats brilliant cheers Maria. Is it much of a job to lay it all and does it come in the same parts as the original carpet and covering all areas like that thin strip under the seats etc..? I may have to put it off for a short time now because all of a sudden im getting the nasty screeching noise from the passenger side that sounds like a shot driveshaft. I will be a little annoyed if it is because I only replaced both driveshafts about 10000 miles (8 months) ago. If it is as I fear then I may well buy brand new maybe from Rover cos I aint very impressed with the lastability of this current one, a recon made by XL I think. Its not the kind of job you want to have to be doing every 6 months!

1) Yes, it covers all the areas the original carpet does. I got mine fitted by an upholsterer at the same time as the rest of the van was done, and don't have any plastic floor trim in at the mo (the upholsterers chopped up the bit of carpet that would be in the rear of the hatchback to fill in the gaps, not understanding!) but you can see where the trim would go and the carpet fit into it.

2) Shame you don't have a 1.6 or 1.3 as we have loads of driveshafts with the inner CV joint in stock for £20 each +P&P.

Cheers Maria appreciate that. I'll get a set of them carpets I think although financial constraints are starting to kick in due to my TR7 falling to pieces at the minute!
