Hi guys,
Asking on behalf of a member with no Interweb access: What are the gear ratios and final drive in the gearboxes supplied with Ledbury-built 1.3 Maestros?

IIRC the gearbox in a ledbury are the same as a van gearbox but sorry dont know the ratios
but they are no different in top gear than the older 4speed gearbox

The exact ratios may be in the Haynes manual.
If not the very first Maestro brochure has the gear ratios in the technical specification at the back. Back then there were four VW gearboxes in use:
4 speed - Base and L models
3 + E - HLE
5 speed - HLS, VP and optional for 1.6L
5 speed close ratio - MG1600
It is the MG1600 ratios which are the nearest (if not the same as) the Ledbury and van gearboxes. To my knowledge the only other VW gearbox used was a 4+E gearbox used on later HLEs and LEs. However, unlike the 3+E version, this is very similar to the normal 5-speed 'box.
