How do you remove the head lining from a Monty without damage? I tried to remove one from another car but split it right down the middle.

Are we talking saloon or estate? I have removed several from saloons without damaging them. The secret is in the manoeuvring and getting it out one of the front door shuts, past the steering wheel (might help to take it off) and front seats (fully reclined) etc. My advice is take it slow, once lowered you should be able to move it round the cabin til you can gently pull it out of the door shut. It can be done! Estates on the other hand are a piece of p**s.

Cheers mate. Estates are easy due to the tailgate yes?

Thats right, they couldn't be easier. Straight out the back of the tailgate.

I need a new estate headlining. Mine has all collapsed. Any hints on the cheapest/best source?

You can re-cover your own as a cetain enterprising forum member did. I believe there are instructions in a post. If you search for headlining or something similar you'll find it. An article should also be in the up and coming Monstro too

I have had mine recovered with the proper foam backed cloth. You have to scrape off all the old foam and glue so that the new material has something to stick to and then glue on the new cloth.

Cost $75(aussie)

Getting it out is easy, you just stick the car in second gear and twist the headlining out through the front door opening. You have to tip the front down and turn it sideways between the gearstick and the steering wheel.
