anyone know if the estate came without a sunroof?
I really hate sunroofs, I want to refurbish my headlining but I'm wondering if it's worth continuing my search for a sunroof-free headlining
(if I found one I'd take the sunroof out and weld the hole up)

No sunroof on a Montego estate until 1988 models. Isn't that funny how people differ, I love sunroofs especially my glass panel electric one!

erk! - so I'm looking for the earlier models then?
bet they all got munched by the rust fairy long ago
my reasoning is: they all leak eventually, never had one that didn't, and I never use it, never open it it at all.

The non-sunroof estate headlining has a kind of wide centre strip down its length, presumably for strengthening purposes.

My old C-reg 1600 Estate had no sunroof, but still managed to leak as the rain got in at the junction between the windscreen and the roof metalwork , courtesy of the dreaded rust.
Still, when the headlining got wet it stretched to form what looked like a padded ceiling. You dont get one of them even in a Rolls! ;)
