Hi everyone, great site loads of useful info.
Had a few maestros over the years a few good and a few bad.Just keep coming back to them, and have now bought another. Its a 1992 1.3 lx .Seems ok haven't drove it much yet. Think it needs a bit of a carb tune as its hesitating when going round sharp corners:confused: and also i have to push the brake pedal down quite far before the brakes work. any thoughts would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Brake pedal travel more than likely the rear shoes wanting adjusting sometimes they dont adjust up, is the handbrake high?
Has the car been moted recently? if so more than likely they could have knocked the mixture down the 1.3 works best on the limit of the mot restrictions in my experiance. It may well be running too weak :)

The bad running on sharp corners could be that the float level is wrong or the pick up pipe in the tank is partly blocked

There is a tuning the A series article in the FAQ section of the forum which may help.

Usual first suspect is cracked or broken vacuum pipes which cause all sorts of problems usually hesistation.
