Hi,
I am thinking about fitting C.D.L to the 2 front doors on my van. (dont laugh) I have all the parts off a Monty countryman estate- the motors, rods, latches etc.
The "problem" i have is the wiring. There are 2 small pieces of "loom" that connect all the other electrical "door components" (tweeters, leccy windows, mirrors etc) together. This is a multiplug in the door, passes through the rubber grommet/boot, thru' the A post and then plugs into the main loom behind the glove box & fusebox. - I have taken the Dash out of the donor vehicle.

Does the C.D.L run off/thru any kind of relay?
What do the 4 wires on the CDL harness do?
can i just use the "looms" and dis-regard the other pins/wires that obviously won't have components connected to them?
Am i just better off waiting to get a car that has CDL, but no other 'leccy bits- meaning that the wiring harness will be simpler?

I think that because it is a van it won't have the CDL loom "hidden/taped up" like on some car vehicles.

And i'm not even contemplating swapping the wiring loom from the estate into the van-someone has bodged all kinds of "extras" in- alarms, radio/cdl et etc.

Anyone retro-fitted CDL into a Van/car that has no loom?
Electrics- they just ain't my thing man!

Thanks,
Biglad

if you have the older system(up to 86) the one with 4 wires is for the drivers lock.the purple wire is the live wire from the battery or fuse box ,black is the earth wire.the orange and pink wires are the ouput to the cdl unit on the passager door:) .
if its from a 86 on car you need the control unit as well, but the eletric wiring is the same

The control unit is the unit in the drivers door. The only thing that changed was the multiplugs used.

Everything else is as per the above messege from tony.

Hi,
Thanks for the help.
What does the control unit look like/how big is it? And how/where is it fixed to the drivers door?
Doesn't the passenger motors multiplug have 4 wires on it as well? and if so why, i didnt think you could lock the car from the passenger side.

no the only unit with 4 wires to it is for the drivers door ,the one on the drivers door, drives all the other motors so no you cannot lock the car from the passenger door, which is a pity:(

The control unit in the drivers door looks like the CDL motor in the other doors except it has 4 wires, the others only have 2.

Hi,
I have been and looked at/and stripped the CDL motors/latches etc out of the Monty tonight.
And it all looks a bit easier than i first thought.
Only because of the help posted. Thanks those who posted info.
