Where do you keep your Maestro or Montego?

My maestro isnt lucky enough to have its own nice warm garage. :(
It just slowly rots in the weather outside.

I keep it in a garage although I have to share it so it spends half its life out on the driveway. I plan to give it a thorough Waxoyling this summer though - it hasn't rusted in 20 years and I'm not about to let it start!

Sorry, I forgot to add before, if you select 'Other' on the poll, please state in a message here.
Thanks...

I voted twice - I hope that's okay.
I rent a garage for my MG Maestro Turbo and that's the best £25 a month that I spend because the garage is 4ft longer than the car so i can keep tonnes of spares in their with it.
And because we live in a new flat, we have an allocated space in front of the building where I keep the MG1600 - this keeps teh insurance down too.
Hopefully, I'll be getting another garage soon so they can both be kept away!
The reason early Maestros turn up in good condition is because they were kept in garages. This is particularly true of Vanden Plas like Matt's.

You can select more than one box on the poll anyway, I know how many people on here have more than one Maestro/Montego.
Sadly, F170 GGT could be evicted from it's garage as the owner needs the space. :( :banghead: :(

Don't over-rate garages. Car ports are better because, unlike garages, they give the car a good opportunity to dry off if it's been out in the rain, thus reducing corrosion.

My thoughts exactly. But we can't have a car port. It's either in the garage or nowhere at all. :banghead:

Other being the local church's carpark, they dont like the resident parking there, but where i am in the town centre, its all double yellows, least I can keep an eye on H902 where he is there. Sometimes I am lucky enough to make use of the houses car-port, but its usually occupied by a green morris minor, that goes no where, especially as the engine is now buggered, that belongs to one of my housmates btw!

Very true - I am always wary of garaging my car if I have been driving in the rain as you need air circulating to dry out all of the water that has been forced up into all the nooks and crannies under the car! I sometimes think it would be better to leave it out, but I normally stick it in the garage and leave the door open to try and give it a chance to dry out. What you want is a Carcoon - my mate's dad has one for his Daimler and it is spot on

that carcoon looks snazzy!
id love to keep mine in the garage, but the problem is that there is actually 3 foot of water in my garage! We had a pit dug 10 years ago into the floor of the garage, and it seems this part of hampshire was under water 200 years ago, and was in fact the beach! Lots of shingle! Because of this the water table is high, and so lowering the floor by 5 feet means than when it rains, the floor just leaks and lets in water.. so the garage option isnt as good as it could be for me! Its probably salt water too, so - even worse! :-):banghead:

I can't class the double garage as warm..or dry..:) I can state it's full of Maestro parts and panels..2 bonnets, lights, carbs, interior, a dashboard, 4 bumpers..and the small matter of the Fiesta..heh.
Next to the double garage I have a concrete pad, for future use in a project rebuild or a kit car, and in the back garden another garage may well be built. Half workshop for my IT, half storage for my projects..:)
Sometimes H870 is known to lurk at the back of my garden, behind the pond and the rowan bush. Why? It's huge, and H870 can't be seen by visitors..so we don't get hassled.. Nobody would expect to walk down a huge grassy garden behind a house, and find a Maestro playing hide and seek...would they? ;)
Living in the sticks has it's advantages..but sadly broadband is not one of them..!:banghead: :censored:

I agree - I never put my Turbo in the garage whilst it is wet. I wait until it stops raining and then dry it off with a cloth and then put it away quickly!
If I had a garage with power I would get a dehumidifier to dry out the air!

Nice looking MG Maestro 2.0i, JollyMG
Could you send me a full size picture to post on my MG Maestro site in the gallery as I don't have many pictures of white EFis?

That looks fanatstic! Just what I need for my 1600, although my neighbours already think I am mad for polishing my car avery weekend. What would they think if it was parked in one of those?

That looks good! Its not something that would last long outside my house. It would proove far too tempting for someone to 'pop' it!
Looks quite expensive too, and by the looks of the pic, perhaps only for expensive cars!

Is that an Aston DB7? My dad worked with someone who had one of those. And yes, they are very expensive!

Yes it is the car from the latest James Bond film!

No it's not. As already observed, it is a DB7. The one in the new Bond film is a V12 Vanquish. The Vanquish has been out two or three years, whilst the DB7 is a little older. I think I've only seen one of either in real life. Yet another British car company now owned by foreigners...

So it is a DB7 as I thought but the one in the film is a Vanquish? I have not seen that film. Which one has the engine that is made of two Mondeo engines welded together?
Ford's stand at the motorshow was pretty sickening with all those great makes under their hideous blue oval. To think that Land Rover and Jaguar were once part of British Leyland/AustinRover/Rover Group.
It could have all been so different!

I haven't seen the film either, actually. I hadn't heard about the two Mondeo engines welded together. If it was an Aston Martin which had that, it would have to be the newest one, but I thought it had been around long enough to be designed before Ford took over. How long ago did Ford take over, anyone know?
