Greenstuff Pads

Basicly are these worth the money? and does the standard EBC pad reduce brakedust or is just the greenstuff ones? £41 seems to be the going rate anyone know of cheaper places

Not worth the extra expense, the OE quality Unipart pads are much better. I use Mintex racing pads on mine and they are great but a little noisy.

I use redstuffs on my maestro. They are the old compound ones which take a fair bit of warming up (the newer compound ones are much better in this respect).

I used to use the old mintex 171's in my turbo and 16v , they used to take a lot of bedding in and warming up. Im looking for pads which stop well and dont make too much brake dust

New redstuffs don't take a lot of warming up but they are pretty dusty.
Greenstuffs are sold on the basis of low dust so they may well be suitable for what you are after so long as you don't get them too hot.

I've used Greenstuff in the past and found them very good with low dust. Not everyone likes them but not sure why. I have fitted greenstuff to my recently replaced braking system, but not had chance to test them yet due to car being away.

i fitted a set (front and rear) of ebc utimax pads to my rover 75. These are their standard pad and they made a difference, the car stopped much quicker, worked best when brought in hard, it was as though they dug in. Very good pads the price was good to. Best bit is that EBC are a British brand and are the only British braking company to make their pads and discs in this country, so not from Chinese monkey metal.

Unipart pads are good and are made by mintex

They are standard pads with standard amounts of dust. I've got them in my 600 with the bigger brake conversion in it.

The only downside to EBC is the frequency at which the pad material delaminates from the backing!

Im using greenstuff too,in my turbo,and have found no problems!:)

I can brake from cold,quite hard,and they is little dust from them too!

But its not only the pads,im also using ebc grooved discs,goodridge lines(all round),and dot 5 fluid.On the rears,i have genuine new rover shoes,and cylinders.(so good,the paint is now bubbling off the rear drums!!:D)

So the damn thing stops good,for me,anyway!!:D

Greenstuff is ok for fast road. Possibly Redstuff too - but don't use either for track days (or racing) or you end up with weetabix where the pads used to be.

ive only jsut seen this topic bought up. when i had my old rover 118i vvc, i was using apec pads or something. they were mega on the small lttle metro and it stoped on a sixpense

Apec are what my local motorfactor supplies. I'd rate them on a par with OE stuff. Good and cheap and I use them in lots of my motors.
