Hi

My A-series maestro has developed a unconsistant idle speed when on choke. It sometimes slows enough and the engine dies in traffic. I did think it could be the vacume pump but mine being a 1992 model it will have been manual choke from new wont it? and so this wont be the problem?

Any ideas on what it could be , runs fine when not on choke. , but is a real pain to start if it has cut out.

thanks

Check the vacuum pipes are in good condition as they cause almost all of the running problems on the A series. If you have a look in the FAQ section then there are a few pointers on how to make sure it is running properly. I wrote a basic guide for our 1991 car so this should be applicable to yours also.
