View Full Version : Door Window removal

I recently bought replacement drivers-side front and back doors on Ebay. In the next few months, I plan on spraying them and replacing my existing rusty doors.

Yesterday I was cleaning them up, just to see how much work they needed. Thankfully they were as advertised - solid with very minor rust spots. But I realised that the glass on the front door had an area with scratches on it. The only way I can describe it is like someone had tried to clean a patch of the glass with a brillo pad.

So I'm wondering if there is a way of removing the glass from my original door, and putting it into the replacement door? Its worth noting that I have front eleccie windows.
Cheers

Yes you can swap the glass over. Its a fiddly job but its all fairly obvious what needs removing when the door is infront of you.

Remove the door card and door capping. Remove the outer window seal. Wind down the window a little, this will stop the regulator's studs from binding in the door panel holes. Undo the E/window plugs, undo the 3 nuts and manoevre the regulator from the window lifting channel and then out of the gap in the inner door panel. Remove the felt in the window lifting slots then the window can be lifted out of the door by pulling upwards and outwards.

Thanks for the replies - it sounds easy but something tells me it wont be!

Just very fiddly with lots of sharp bits inside the door. You'll work it out when you see it infront of you!
