1991 Maestro 1.6lx auto- Engine grumble

I have a 1991 "J" Maestro 1.6 automatic which has a problem on the engine. Whilst the engine starts and runs really well there is a rather anoying grumbling sound coming from the engine. The engine runs well and dosent seem to loose any power. Any ideas?

I'd say the crank has gone,shells even???

My other turbo has it,and even though the 2 are completely different engines,your description sounds just like that!:idea: :banghead:

What sort of noise is it?
The noise sounds like a metalic sound almost like two pieces of dry metal rubbing together,best way to describe it is like when the brake pads have warn away and you have metal to metal.What are the chaces of it being the water pump?
