you should eb able to do the swap in a day i would say, ive converted 1.4 astras into 3 litre v6's in the day, also built 2.0 16v corsa in a day, although suppose it depends on what facilities you have available? i have a hydraulic ramp and a fully equipt workshop so its a tad easier than rolling round on the drive in the rain.

A couple of days at least for the DIY-er. Tank, fuel lines, wiring, exhaust as well as the engine of course.

You lucky man, some days i wish i was back in dealership so i could have the same facilctys.
If you are the on drive i would say 2 days if it all goes right and you have all the bits and you know about cars and how a maestro is screwed together.
If its your first the best thing to do is take your time make sure you dont have to rush to put it back together cause you need the car the next day

yeh suppose with the conversions ive done ive never had to swap the tank only the fuel pump in the tank. as for exhausts ive always started from scratch and made one upout of new tubeing and silencers.

I've got to make a system from scratch for my L series conversion, the only problem I'm having is getting 2.5 or 3 inch silencers. Any ideas where to source them?

Merlin motorsport list them, made by jetex. www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk

I was going to say jetex, used them a few times and are very good. Otherwise, and I hate to admit it, but I had to use exhaustuk, or ascar as there are often referred to, to et some silencers. They are on the industrial estate at the side of the arena/centretainment. Or try SDL motor factors as they are a bosal stockist if your just after more standard silencers and stock universal stuff. They're on the estate near the big Kier depot off the parkway Dan.

Yes it seems hard to get silencers in 2.5 inch or larger! Hawleys have also got a good rep so I might give the headache to them after fabricating a downpipe
