How many people are going to camp?

I'll be there, although nobody will recognise me driving because the headlining has sagged so much that I have to cut eye holes in it!

Maria, can we work out a price for the N/S/F spoiler section if you still have it and can you bring it along (the one finished in primer). Mine disagreed with the kerb:mad:

Hi Gareth. I can make a tent out of my headlining, it finally sagged and once they start, there's no stopping them. Hope the autojumble is as good as it was last year, if so we are all in for a treat or two.

It is July 6th isn't it? I thought it was the week before.

SO THATS ANOTHER :censored: EVENT I CANNOT MAKE DUE TO A :censored: ing PRIOR ARRANGEMENT.

I found this out yesterday and I've been going about today with a big black cloud hanging over me. Talk about bad mood and depressed all rolled into one!

Hi all just in case anybodies interested i'll be bringing a few spares along for trade/sale to MGM 2003, of particular interest I have a pair of genuine Rover front wings for a metal bumper Maestro (bolt on so no hassle with welding) & I have a black bonnet with no surface rust but wants a little tidying on the underside. Im only after my money back on what I paid (got conned with the wings, was told they were wings for late model Maestro's, weren't told for metal bumbers only!:banghead: ). I'll be bringing the wings anyway but if anyone's interested in the bonnet shout up before the day as unless i've got anyone interested i'm not carting it all that way!

Cheers
Dale

The person who sold you the wings should have told you they were for metal bumper cars - but it is sort of accurate in that most of teh last Maestros did have metal bumpers and the late model cars have different fittings than the early ones.

Someone with a Maestro Special or Clubman will no doubt be keen - put a post on the thread "panel offer";)

I'll be there but sadly F153 will not because finally it's booked in for the bodywork that's needed so badly. Looking forward to seeing you all!

I shall be there - almost certainly in A82 WHR. See you all there.

Maria

Is the bonnet a Maestro or a Montego bonnet? If it's a Maestro one, I'll have it off you as we still don't have a replacement for the racecar's knackered one.

Looking forward to MGM. I managed to get the Metro into Bromley this year and what a fantastic show. The weather made it even better. I hope the weather is that nice next weekend.

Hope everyone is looking forward to our first event of the year!

Racecar due for new windscreen tomorrow, so it'll be at MGM, just with a slightly rippled bonnet! Also had the camper's exhaust bodged to get MOT-legal until I get the new one on Wednesday, so that'll be coming along too :)

I'll definitely take that bonnet off you - cheers :)

I can't garuntee I will be there tomorrow, I have had a hectic week, and have gone down with some sort of chest infection now and just feel rough. If i'm feeling up to the drive tomorrow, then I will be there, in a very dirty H902! I hope to make it, i've been looking forward to it, so, see you if i see you basically!

I shampood, polished, waxed, wheel cleaned, dash cleaned and glass cleaned the camper from 9 this morning until 3 - my arms ache and my back ache now, but he's looking very shiny :) Unfortunately he's disobeying Golden Rule No 1: Thou Shalt Not Rust :( There are a couple of niggly bits that need sorting when I can find a bodyshop that's not mad busy and that I can trust to do the work well - oh, and some cash!

The racecar got a new windscreen this morning too, so providing Chris isn't still busy rebuilding dead mail servers and building new ones, hopefully that'll be along too, but I haven't had a chance to clean it up at all.

Well that was an interesting MG Saloon Day, and the first time since 1998 I haven't been able to make it. How about 4 hours stuck in a broken down Rover on the M25 near Rickmansworth and nothing to show for it but a £180 recovery bill. I hate cars. Not having much luck with them recently.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Apologies for the lack of committee members and major parts of the M&MOC stand, hope those of you that didn't suffer any terminal failures on the way enjoyed the show. I'll await the photographs.

I'm bloody furious

Sorry 2 hear of your unfortunate day CHO,
Myself and my 2 youngest lads(6 & 2) had a great time,
apart from them wanting 2 spend all day on the playground.
The eldest of the 2 youngest, dan, was pretty well taken with your camper, maria and insited on having his photo taken by the rear door by the maestro 500 decal.
Saw tony and the cab,top car!
Talk about a small world, bumped into a mate of mine from work, known him for about 4 years, find out he's got a maesty turbo and its one of the concours cars,i'll find out tommorow how it got on.
by the way maria our dan wants your race car aswell:D
top day!

Shame you didn't make it, Jonathan :(

It was a very good turnout, and I was particularly impressed at the number of the Z cars and newer Rovers that turned out - many thanks to the MG-Rover.org forumers for coming en masse!

My favourite part of the show is always to meet our club members and their, although thanks to being very rushed to get there in the first place and have a look round, I didn't get to do much of that :( Chris was up all night installing a server for work, and didn't get it done until 9:30am when we legged it to the garage, got WBM trailered up and Muddle out, and headed through the hordes of Sunday drivers down to Coventry. I had to ring Chris a couple of times on the drive home to keep him awake!!

To me, our cars are much more interesting than the MGM cars. There are some beautiful and impressive MGMs there every year, but for me, once you've seen one immaculate Turbo, you've seen 'em all. I'd much rather see a non-MG with some interesting mods, or an immaculate City, or an early VP :)

One thing that disappointed me this year was the lack of autojumble. I'd brought quite a bit of cash hoping to get some bits for my turbo (I know, very hypocritical considering the last paragraph, but I wanted to make sure it went to a good home!), and there was practically nothing there. No Brown & Gammons, no other MG groups, not even many independents with biggish stocks. There were only a very few people with small piles of parts by their cars :(

Still, good weather, good company and some lovely cars, so all in all a good day out :)

It was great to see so many people and their cars on Sunday. I met loads of people on this forum which was great including Mat_C, tony and David, the club treasurer and many more people from the MG Enthusiasts BBS.

Having read another thread I'm just glad I took my MG1600 and left my immaculate MG Turbo at home ;)

That was the first MG-M day I've been to and I won't be missing another!

It was good to meet of you lot even though F153 had to stay at home :( I was chauffeured by MaestroMatt in A82 WHR, in my opinion one of the nicest, and certainly one of the oldest Maesties there.

You're right about the lack of autojumble - I was hoping to pick up a couple of electric window mechanisms (one for F153 JUE and one for A251 HPR) but I made do with a couple of very good condition Monty alloys - Just 3 more required now ;)

It was also very refreshing to see swathes of Maestros lined up and looking very fine indeed. There were a couple of Tickfords for sale and I was v. tempted but thankfully I managed to fight the urge and still only have the 1 Maestro!

Kudos to your Monty as well, Tony. You've obviously got a lot of work ahead of you but you can certainly see the potential. I'm sure your wife will as well. She doesn't know how lucky she is that you bought her a Monty as well - His and Hers eh?!

I'm sorry you didn't make it Jonathan, I can assure you that you and CHO were indeed very much missed. See you in Peterborough tho...?

Oh, one last thing: There's only one thing that your Camper is missing, Maria - you need to craft yourself a nice italic 'Van' badge by cutting off 'den Plas' from an old Maestro. A certain touch of class I thought...

Would very much like a VP chrome grille too.

It was a good day and very nice to see so many Maestros lined up. I have to agree with Maria that Turbos are not the be all and end all though. I wouldn't say no to a Tickford as a second car though...

I took a few pictures - not as many as I thought - I blame the camera! I have put them on an interweb somewhere round here (http://pages.zoom.co.uk/mattife/mgm.htm)...

Sadly, however, since I uploaded them my web provider seems to have deleted half the pictures. This is an annoying habit it seems to have developed. As I can't imagine that Maestro pictures count as explicit content, I shall upload them again tonight and see if they actually manage to stay there, so check back tomorrow.

Apologies for the fairly low quality of the pictures - they were taken with my tiny Blink Stylecam (http://www.firebox.com/index.html?dir=firebox&action=product&pid=351) which I have just realised has been superseded by the Blink II.

Hi Mat,

The Vanden Plas looked great - its always good to see another A-reg Maestro with a digital dash. I had a good look at your car but it was a shame we did not meet as I met loads of other enthusiasts from this forum.

I have posted up some pictures that were taken on Sunday on a new page on my website:

I am not sure if I saw your car - I probably did as I had a good look at pretty much all the Maestros! As I was saying above, we should make a concerted effort to put faces to names at Peterborough as I only met a few of the people from the forum who say they were there.

Still no good news on my pictures - my ISP randomly deletes pictures just as they finish uploading. I am about to send them a furious e-mail!

Sorry I couldnt be there, it was most annoying, I had been looking forward to it for weeks, but when it came to it, I just did not feel well enough to drive the 400mile round trip!

Sorry:(

Following a discussion with the helpful chaps at Zoom, I have now got enough webspace and have posted all the pictures for anyone that is still interested.

My MG 1600 was parked at the front next to the MGM tent with a line up of MG Saloon cars through the ages. We took some pictures of the display which will be posted on my site and the MGM site at some point this week.

Unfortunately I am not going to Peterborough.
