My maestro is sat in storage for half of the year, until the warmer weather comes along. I was thinking about the petrol in the fuel tank today and how it will probably go off whilst standing there. Obviously bad fuel isn't good for the engine.

I started reading about fuel stabilisers today, that apparently can increase the lifetime of your fuel to around 15 months.

Does anyone have any experience of fuel stabilsers? Are they any good? If so what would be the best brand to look for and how much is it likely to cost me?

I have never heard of these stabilisers but I do know that fuel degrades with time, especially the higher octane ones like Optimax. I also know that it isn't good for a fuel tank to be left empty or low as the condesation inside tends to cause rust, the best prevention is to keep the tank full.
