3 times in the last 4 months when car left out in carpark between 2300hrs and 0700 hrs. engine has spluttered into life but has quickly died and flooded on a restart. drying and warming plugs and jiggling with the throttle plus a bit of luck gets engine running smoothly after 2-3 minutes.
the fault has only occured as above. ie if left in garage overnight or
outside during daytime no problem occurs. have replaced plug leads,
diss cap and coil also new plugs.
suspect engine/air temp sender units or throttle potentionmeter.
Has anyone got any ideas I could try or had a similar problem

Hi there, My initial thought was like yourself, a HT problem but as you seem to have changed everything on that front this seems less likely  Unless you did not fit brand new genuine rover plug leads, as I would not trust anything else without spending big money.

A faulty coolant sensor is a possibillity. The extreme cold has been known to make other vital componants unreliable such as the ecu, and crank sensor, although not that common. :(

I think it is unlikly to be air or fuel temp sensors as these are not critical to operation more for trimming the (afr). I dont really suspect throttle pot either.

Cheers Gary:)
