We only got snow for 15 minutes yesterday, and it melted straight away. :o

Here's the Vauxhall Astra sporting the whole 3mm of snow we got on New Year's Eve...

(I can hear the "Booooo"'s already)

Snow  What's all this about snow???? Here in Sunny Blackpool we've had cloudless skies and sunshine for nearly a week! I thought here 'up north' was supposed to get all the cr@p weather while folks further south got better weather? Seems it's not always the case...

You'd be surprised just how many Maestro owners also seem to have a Mk3 Astra among their collection or in their family, self included.

Sorry, No Astras here - got to be an old VW Beetle (1972) :)

Makes you appreciate the comfort of the glorious Maestro:cool:

It snowed again last night, and so here is a far superior car to the Astra to sport the few mm of snow...

;) :D

Since I got up at 6am and now we have had a dusting of snow, for a change it isn't melting on impact.

Snow? Lovely, sunny and surprisingly warm in Bedford. I hate the cold-REALLY HATE IT. Looking forward to a really nice warm summer like last year. Then we can do lots of work on our cars in comfort!

To all of those people who moaned that it was too hot last summer, here's a message in advance: SHUT UP!

I was in Newcastle at the weekend and we had over half a foot of snow. I was very amused to see two well thought-of automatics (a Mercedes A Class and a Jaguar) completely stuck on hills, their wheels spinning, the torque converters unable to cope. It reinforced my resolve never to own a primitive stop-go car like that. No clutch-control = no control in the snow.

Which is precisely why I'm reluctant to accept a car I'm being offered free when it's an automatic (not to mention the fact that it's a Fiesta...) However, the terms "gift horse", "mouth" and "don't look in" spring to mind. Ho hum...

Cold weather is doing my head in too, really hampering my progress with projects outside. Thank goodness i'm off to the States end of the month!

I can relate to that! It's a pity I can't go to the states, and take my van and all my tools with me!

If I could afford to go to the states I would proberbly pay some one to do the stuff on my car for me.

Wish i could say the same but i have to leave my car in bits till i come back for a few weeks, finish it off, then ship it to the U.S once i've looked into the rules and regulations. Money shouldnt be an issue in 6 months time if it all works out...

If i recall, any car going to the US must be over 25 years of age if it is a personal import.

Thats if you intend to use it on the public road after a year, where every car that is a personal import is exempt up until the full year has passed, then it has to be shipped back or scrapped.

However some people have managed to get around this loophole and i will soon find out how aswell, if at all possible. Otherwise it will be track/show use only after a year, not that it will be a problem.

This has been in the pipeline for literally years and hasnt been done with haste. Everything has been organised and i would be a fool to stay here and struggle the rest of my life. Now is the time ;)

Yes, best of luck to you out there. Wish I had the resolve (and bottle) to emigrate to warmer and more lucrative climes. Dare we ask what line of work you will be in once you are settled State-side?

Well if it's stealing cars to order, then can I put in a request for a 1960s Mustang? ;)
