i've just aquired F813COE, a maestro 500 city van, which is basically sound, just a bit scabby. the only 2 mechanical problems were a blown head gasket, which i've just about finished sorting (thought that a good top end de-coke might be a good idea at the same time - it has done well over 200k) and a front wheel bearing that has got more play in it than all the other cars i have ever adjusted wheel bearings on put together. are these bearings adjustable conical bearings?

also, i need some doors for it. the drivers door is good (already changed by the previous owner) though it has sagged on the hinges a bit, but both rear doors and the passenger door are looking very sorry. can't find one in a scrap yard for love nor money.

then all that's left to do is de-rust and fill all of it's battle scars :banghead: and respray.

i'll try and stick up some photos so you can have a larf. must admit, i sometimes wonder why i'm doing this.

well, i've got the head back on it now, and it runs. it'll even tick over at the right speed! :)
all i've got to do now is keep flushing it out with clean oil till all of the sh*t it washed out :banghead: oh, and all the welding and rust repairs. and the wheel bearing. and sort the indicators :rage:

kinda wishing i hadn't started on this project!!:(

hey guy's, i'm back! i've been off with a collapsed disk in my back, so i ain't been able to get out. i've finally got round to uploading some photos of the van for you to larf at. i'm planning on doing a slight bit of engine upgrading now, as the wheezy a series that's in it just ain't got enuf poke. after much consideration (including mid mounted rover V8) the current plan is to go for a golf gti lump in the front, though this plan will probably change.
