Hi,
Any one got an easy(ish) and quick (Ha!!) way to get the drive gear off the crank of a Perkins MDi??
In the past the majority of ones i have done have been a bit of a pig!
I think the gear is a different material (alloy?) than the Crank (cast?) and probably suffer a similar problem to the thermostat housing/bolt problem (as frequently discussed on these forums)because of the difference in the metals?
The usual methods (WD40 etc) have been tried.
The problem with leaving the bottom pulley bolted (with the 4 allen bolts) to the gear and tapping/persuading with a hammer usualy results in a knac***ed bottom pulley.
I will probably make an "adapter" (made from an old bottom pulley) that will attatch to a slide hammer, unless anyone has any other/better idea's?
:)
Thanks Biglad.
P.S the usual "heating" up method is out of the question as i have no access to oxy-aceteline/gas torches.
