Keith Adams of the Unofficial Austin Rover Resource invited the Club to a day at the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Museum at Gaydon, along with a few other Car Clubs. It was overcast and chilly but the welcome was warm and the museum was as enjoyable as ever.
We had several Montegos ranging from 1.3 Base to MG Turbo models and quite a few Maestros - mostly Vanden Plas models but a range of models from 1.3L upwards. It was good to see so many of 'our' cars in such good condition but obviously used daily.
There were various Rover 200s and 800s, a couple of Rover 75s and MG Zs, but of more interest to some of us were the SD1s - especially a 'twin plenum' model with 3.9 litre V8 which sounded very distinctive indeed! There was also an MGB GT, a TR7 and an 'Auntie' Rover to add even more interest to a variety of well turned out cars.
It was good to see several new faces and cars there - and the high turn out of Montegos bodes well for the (Montego 'coming of age' themed) Shows this summer.
Thank you to Keith Adams for the invitation to this Event and for being such a good host.
